Vandals have hit a South Lake Tahoe synagogue with anti-Semitic symbols and words. As Steve Milne reports, the attack comes in the midst of Hanukkah.

Police and F-B-I are investigating the vandalism which includes swastikas and the words “die Jew” in red spray paint on the door of Temple Bat Yam. They still don’t know whether the act was designed to coincide with Hanukkah. The synagogue’s rabbi – Jonathan Freirich – says the incident is unusual for the mountain resort town. This is the first time anything like this has happened in the temple’s history. In fact it’s the first hate crime in 2004. So, it’s not something that we expect in our peaceful, harmonious little town. So far, there are no suspects, but police say they want to question an adult white male who lives in the area. Freirich says the incident has brought the community closer and that he’s received non-stop calls of support from the community. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
