Clover Valley Under Pressure for Development
A scenic valley in Rocklin with a wealth of Native American history is under pressure for development.

Clover Valley is a pristine site … but it’s also land rich in history for the Miwok Indians, the ancestors of the United Auburn Tribe, which owns the Thunder Valley Casino. Relics, burial grounds and village sites thousands of years old are contained within the 600-acre tract. The Buzz Oates Group of Companies wants to build almost 700 custom homes on the property. To sell it instead, they’re now asking $90 million … a sharp increase from their original price of just $20 million. The tribe earns millions of dollars a week, so negotiations are feasible. Meanwhile, an environmental impact report might start as soon as January.
