About 12-hundred homeless people are expected to show up at the Loaves and Fishes dining room. Spokeswoman Joan Burke says they still need more servings of the main dish. Every year we start getting worried when the days get closer and closer to Thanksgiving. We are in great need of cooked and sliced turkeys. This year’s menu also includes yams and green beans and about 400. Burke says this week can be a difficult time for people down on their luck. It’s a terrible thing to think about being homeless during the holidays but it’s also a wonderful thing to see people greeted with a smile and a very sincere welcome and graciousness and that’s what the volunteers provide. Donations of cooked turkeys, pies and other food will be accepted at the Loaves and Fishes warehouse on North “C” Street until 4 o’clock this afternoon. The dinner is tomorrow, starting at 11 A-M.
