The Sierra Club’s legislative director Bill Allayaud (AL-ee-OH) says he hopes the yet-to-be named replacement will beef up environmental law enforcement, and bring about a change suggested in the California Performance Review, to consolidate clean-up programs. Cut:BillA3 (:16) “They’re now spread across several agencies, in the water board, department of toxic substances control.. and CPR recommends consolidation and we agree with that. We think we need to put it all in one place to get more effective clean up of toxic waste problems in this state.” Allayaud says it’s likely Tamminen will continue to influence strong environmental policy as Cabinet Secretary, which is the Governor’s liason to cabinet members and agency directors.
