The nine-member California High Speed Rail Authority met at the Capitol Wednesday to hear reports on the system’s overall Environmental Impact and the specific rights of way that will be part of the final plan. The Authority’s Chairman, Joseph Patrillo, says with eleven million more Californians expected by 2020, the need for high speed rail is greater than ever. CUT: Patrillo12 :12 The Rail Authority is expected to vote next month to approve the rights of way that will connect northern and southern California. Californians will vote in 2006 on a ten billion dollar bond that will help construct the first leg of the estimated 35 billion dollar project. SOC
