Legislature Recognized Health Care Decisions Week
Californians are being encouraged to discuss "end of life care" issues with their loved ones.

State Senate and Assembly resolutions earlier this year declared this second week of November to be California Health Care Decisions Week. Kansas Attorney William Colby, who represented the family of Nancy Cruzan in the first right-to die case that came before the U S Supreme Court in the 1980s, is on a speaking tour of California this week. He says every person should prepare and sign an Advance Health Care Directive stating exactly what care is and is not wanted if the person becomes incapacitated and unable to communicate. But Colby said the legal document alone is not enough.
