State Legislative Staff Taking Time Off to Work Campaigns
As Election Day approaches, many legislative and executive staff members at the state Capitol have gone off payroll to walk precincts.

Steve Maviglio, who once was Governor Gray Davis’ Press Secretary and is now a consultant to the Assembly Democratic campaign operation says it’s a longstanding Capitol tradition. CUT: Maviglio10 :10 Republican as well as Democratic staffers do it, and some do take leaves of absence so they can be paid for campaign work. Sacramento labor leader Bill Camp says when he worked at the Capitol, experienced legislative staff members were especially valuable to campaigns.
