The non-profit California Voter Foundation asked over a thousand otherwise qualified adults why they either did not register or, if registered, why they did not actually vote. The top reason given was “too busy,” followed by perceptions that politics are controlled by special interests and that candidates do not really speak to their needs. Voter Foundation President Kim Alexander says age is a major factor in voting.
