Funded by the California Wellness Foundation, the “Get Real about Teenage Pregnancy” campaign will urge state and local leaders, school officials, and parents to support and fund efforts that have been proven to lower the teen birth rate. The “Get Real” campaign manager is Christy Black, who says teens need to hear a clear message. CUT: Black16 :16 The “Get Real” campaign surveyed 55 California cities, ranking them based on how many coordinated services such as health clinics, after school programs, and teen decision-making were present. California’s teen pregnancy rate has declined forty per cent since its peak in 1991, and its rate is now below the national average. SOC
