New Procedurtes in Airline Security
New security procedures aimed at doing a better job of detecting explosives start today at Sacramento International Airport and other airports throughout the country.

Screeners will now start asking passengers to take off their coats. Transportation Security Administration spokesman Nico Melendez says all types of coats. In the past we’ve asked them to remove coats like winter coats but now we’re going to be asking the gentlemen and ladies to remove their blazers, sport coats, any kind of warm-up jackets they might be wearing. Screeners have also been given more authority to refer passengers for secondary screening and to request pat-down searches. But Melendez says the new rules shouldn’t add to wait times. don’t expect this to have a significant impact on customer service. The new procedures come on the heels of recommendations by the special commission investigating the September 11th, 2001 terrorist attacks. Steve Milne - KXJZ news.
