CalPERS Dropping Sutter Health
Thirty-four thousand people will make a big statement about Sutter Health when they choose next year’s coverage in the days ahead.

Sutter and the California Public Employees Retirement System had a falling out some months ago. For reasons of cost, CALPERS dropped 13 Sutter hospitals, and most Sutter physicians, as options for healthcare coverage. 34,000 residents of the Sacramento area currently are CALPERS enrollees with Blue Shield, which is dropping Sutter physicians from their network next year. The big question in Sacramento healthcare right now is whether they will pay higher premiums to keep their Sutter doctors … or opt for a different choice. The region is flooded with advertising as people make up their minds by the October 15th deadline.
