A manufacturer of ski lifts called Doppelmayr is closing its plant in South Sacramento, cutting all 40 jobs. In December the company shuttered its other Sacramento facility, dropping 30 jobs. The plants had operated in Sacramento since the 1980s. Last year the company installed new lifts at 17 ski resorts, including Heavenly Valley at Lake Tahoe. But a merger led to this consolidation move, with some functions shifting to Doppelmayr’s Salt Lake City headquarters. In Sacramento, El Dorado, and Placer counties combined, the number of manufacturing jobs has dropped three percent since the start of this year.
