Developer Mark Friedman has asked the city of Rocklin to approve a huge new business park called Orchard Creek. The project would include medical offices operated by the UC Davis Health System on 17 acres … with primary care doctors, and several specialists to start with. A comprehensive cancer center could be in the offing some day, says a university official. Friedman has close ties with the university. In this instance, he’s donating some of the land. In return, this large project along Highway 65 becomes more attractive to Rocklin officials with UC Davis in the mix. And for the university health system, it strengthens their competitive profile in a growing area where Sutter, Kaiser and Catholic Healthcare West are also expanding.
