CalSTRS Looking for New Offices
The people who run the California Teachers Retirement System are looking for new offices and the Governor has signed legislation that allows West Sacramento to be considered.

Known as CalSTRS, the teachers’ retirement system needs more than 300,000 square feet of office space for the staff that oversee its investments – more than $116 billion. CalSTRS has been looking for sites for some time, restricted to locations in Sacramento County. But on Tuesday Governor Schwarzenegger signed a bill sponsored by State Senator Mike Machado, whose district includes West Sacramento. It allows the search to include eastern Yolo County. The $45 million project would move 100s of workers from the current site near Sac State.
