Thunder Valley Casino near Lincoln is converting their bingo hall to accommodate several hundred additional slot machines. Cache Creek has 1,700 slots already, but they’re close-mouthed about size of their increase. The expansions come on the heels of federal approval to a compact between five tribes with casinos and the state of California. Governor Schwarenegger signed the compact in June. The deal calls for the tribes to share revenues from added slots with the state – but the actual casino buildings can’t be expanded. Industry experts say a slot machine in these casinos probably generates about $100,000 in profit annually … and the state will get upwards of 11%.
