The local jobs, which include call center, technical and other workers, will end on October eighteenth. They represent five point five percent of the Dallas-based information technology vendor's local workforce. In a cost saving move, some of the jobs will be transferred to Winchester County, Kentucky. The rest will be sent to offshore EDS locations, which the company declined to identify. EDS has sites in sixty nations, including India, where a lot of American technology companies, like Hewlett Packard and Oracle, have transferred jobs, to pay lower labor costs. Two years ago, EDS started referring to such job transfers not as off-shoring, but as best shoring. For the Business Journal, this is Mark Larson
