EDS is dropping 82 positions from its local work force. Some of these jobs will be shipped overseas … and others will go to Kentucky. The global giant in the field of information services describes it as “best shoring” their jobs, a twist on the much maligned trend of off-shoring. The move comes on the heels of a July announcement that a significant number of employees might lose their jobs as part of a $3 billion cost-cutting plan. EDS says the workers will be gone by mid-October. The company employs about 1,500 in Rancho Cordova.
