It’s time for free flu shots and officials say it should help out people feeling the effects of a tough economy. The shots usually cost $30 but Sacramento County is offering free immunizations starting Tuesday.
Lynnan Svensson is with the county and says the community clinics are targeted for elderly and low-income residents.
“We want to remove all barriers that people might have to being immunized against the flu and we want to send the message out that it’s not too late to vaccinate against the flu.”
Svensson says this is a great time to get the shot to prevent spreading the flu over the holidays. She says the county hopes to immunize about 2,000 people.
Anyone can get a free shot Tuesday, Dec. 16 at the Pannell Community Clinic in South Sacramento from 10 AM – 2. On Thursday, Dec. 18 the free flu clinic is at the Robertson Community Clinic in North Sacramento at the same time.
