Chris Oshiro
Blue Dog Jam Host
Chris Oshiro comes to KXJZ with a wealth of radio experience. He
was a valued member of the on-air staff that helped KSFM become #1
in the Sacramento ratings back in 1986. Oshiro then went by the
radio name of Kevin Kei. Chris eventually served as that station's
Music Director and Promotions Director.
Chris was also a member of Sacramento's original smooth jazz
outlet, KQPT in 1991, before accepting the Program Director
position at KDIA in Oakland.
Throughout his tenure in the commercial radio arena, Chris has
maintained a strong interest in jazz and world music. "Chris brings
to his craft as a jazz broadcaster the professional demeanor he's
cultivated in commercial radio," said KXJZ Music Director Gary
Vercelli. "We're honored to have Chris as a member of our
team."
Chris' wide ranged interest in rock, folk, country, and jazz
makes him the ideal candidate to host and produce Blue Dog Jam. He
creates a program of diverse tastes and keeps his finger on the
pulse of the local music scene.
Concurrent with his broadcast activities, Chris coaches the
Arden Hills Swimming Team and plays as much golf as his busy
schedule allows. "Being able to program Blue Dog Jam and contribute
to the jazz staff is a hole in one for me!"
