The Sacramento Area Council of Governments voted Thursday to authorize splitting up $76 million among more than 40 different projects.
They include: $20 million for moving the train tracks in the downtown Sacramento Railyards; a little over $3 million to upgrade traffic signals in Sacramento County; and nearly $30 million to retrofit Regional Transit light rail tracks and trains.
There are also smaller amounts of money for road improvement projects in communities like Isleton, Galt, Yuba City and Elk Grove.
And there’s money for bus systems and sidewalk improvements as well.
The next step is to request bids from contractors who want to do the work. The deadline to do so for the road improvements is the end of May; for the rest of these projects, it’s August.
