The U-S Supreme Court today (Thursday) struck down a California law that prohibits employers from using state funds to fight unions. State lawmakers approved the law eight years ago. It banned employers from using state money to run campaigns against unions. Angie Wei is the legislative director with the California labor federation. She says the law protected workers… "A corporate nursing home chain…maybe its getting medi-cal reimbursement funds…if the workers there…who maybe immigrant poor workers…want to join a union…that nursing home could not use that money to deter their efforts… Wei says the ruling will fuel efforts to reform national labor laws that allow employers to use public funds to deter union activity.
