Sacramento County Supervisors on Tuesday unanimously approved the idea of an ordinance requiring kids 12-and-under to wear life jackets when in public waterways. It’s designed to prevent drownings. In the past year there have been a total of eight drownings in local rivers. The proposed ordinance will be presented for final adoption on June 10^th…and if approved…will become effective immediately. The maximum penalty under the ordinance would be a fine of 500-dollars or six months in jail…or both. The City of Sacramento is expected to consider a similar ordinance.
