Jazz Jubilee Officials Worried About Low Attendance

Last year, about 25,000 out-of-town visitors came to hear the music…mostly New Orleans-style traditional jazz with some blues and zydeco. And they spent an estimated $20 million at restaurants, hotels and shops.

But this year, organizers are worried that the weak economy will hurt attendance. And after 35-years, the jubilee’s fan base is aging.

KXJZ’s Steve Milne asked jubilee Executive Director Gene Berthelsen about those challenges.
