New figures out Wednesday from RealtyTrac show that 1 in every 204 California households got some kind of foreclosure filing in April…either a default notice, auction sale notice or bank repossession.
That’s down less than one percent from the previous month…but an increase of 112% from the same time last year.
The RealtyTrac numbers show that three California cities lead the nation in foreclosures: Merced took the top spot, followed by Stockton at number 2 and Modesto at number 3.
Sacramento has the 12th highest foreclosure rate in the country.
Nationwide, 1 in every 519 US households received a foreclosure filing in April…the highest monthly total RealtyTrac has recorded since January of 2005.
