During normal years, Roseville gets 32,000 acre-feet of water from Folsom Lake.  But in April, the U-S Bureau of Reclamation told the city it’ll only get 24,000.
 
That’s putting more stress on Roseville’s other water source: the Placer County Water Agency.  And the city now says it’ll wind up about 1,200 acre-feet short.
 
So that is what’s prompting this Stage One Drought Alert, and here’s what it means: It prohibits the washing of streets, parking lots, driveways, sidewalks or buildings, unless it’s absolutely necessary for public health.  It increases water waste patrols to make sure buildings use water efficiently and leaks get repaired.  And it means the city’s now asking all of its water users to reduce their consumption by 10 percent.
