Forecasters say snow is possible at higher elevations – as much as two feet. Johnny Powell is with the National Weather Service in Sacramento.   

"Winter begins on Friday and this is a good start and hopefully we can fill up our reservoirs to give us lots of water for the upcoming summer months." 

Powell says Tuesday's storm is the first in a parade of storms. The prospect of heavy snow is good news for Lake Tahoe ski resorts gearing up for the busy holiday season.
