The county’s Domestic Violence Death Review Team says the training could be recorded and e-mailed to employees who could then watch it at work. County Supervisor Susan Peters says the plan is commendable but costly.

"It’s a huge expense to have – how many employees do we have now? 14,000 people take mandatory time to watch a program. I know that putting together the program, arranging for the time off and all that kind of thing is time consuming and expensive."

The domestic violence prevention team says the training would help educate the entire community about the cycle of violence. The team is also recommending County supervisors approve a new Public Service Announcement that encourages victims to get help.

Supervisors referred the proposals to the County Executive.
