The University of California, Davis received $532 million in research grants and contracts for the last school year, the third-consecutive year the university has surpassed the half-billion-dollar mark. It’s a slight decline from the $544 million received from the previous year, when UC Davis ranked 16th for research and development grants among universities nationwide. Almost half of last year’s funding — $259 million — came from the federal government, a 13 percent decline from a year earlier. The state made up some of that difference, contributing $96 million, that’s a 14 percent increase over the previous year. The School of Medicine received $148 million in funding, the most of any school or college at UC Davis.
