Three development teams are competing for the $34 million contract to build a new conference center and quarters for the Graduate School of Management on the Davis campus. The site is near the Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, and the $55 million Mondavi Institute for Wine and Food Science that’s already under construction. All are highly visibly from I-80, and constitute part of a grand entrance that has been in the making for eight years. A new Hyatt Place hotel and an art center are still to come. Plans had been stalled by litigation.
