The Sacramento-Yolo Mosquito and Vector Control District received confirmation Tuesday that a dead American Crow was infected.

District officials say residents should heed the warning and get rid of any standing water in their yard where mosquitoes can breed.

West Nile virus is transmitted to humans and animals through the bite of an infected mosquito.
