City officials are seeing a large park, housing, and possibly a new marina on this riverfront property, right where the Deep Water Ship Channel links with the river. The centerpiece will be a 100-acre park. The city has been amassing this 235 acre parcel for several years. The site holds an obsolete sewage treatment plant, old docks, and sand dumped by the Army Corps of Engineers decades ago. A developer could be chosen as early as May. Proposals are being requested now. They hope for a developer with experience in creating a mixed-use waterfront neighborhood.
