” It takes a village to make a meal.”
Gayle Erlandson is the Volunteer coordinator at Loaves and Fishes.
She’s juggling assignments for nearly 400 people who’re spending their Christmas serving the area’s homeless a feast of ham, potatoes, green beans and pie. She had even more volunteers than she needed:
“I just think it says something about the generosity of Sacramento.”
Rita Lewis is one of those grateful for the meal and gifts of shampoo and other necessities. She’s staying in a shelter and looking for work right now:
“A random act of kindness goes a long wa.y”
Many of the volunteers agree….saying they get as much out of helping as those on the receiving end.
