New Ad Campaign Targets Potential Drunk Drivers

National transportation officials say 21-to-34-year-old males are the most likely group to drink and drive—so they’re getting special attention in this advertising campaign…

Congress has provided seven million dollars to air TV, radio and web ads nationally with the theme “over the limit, under arrest”…  California Highway Patrol Commissioner Mike Brown says 16-hundred people were killed in California last year as a result of DUI—and there are concerns that number could rise. 

 “What concerns us is what we call the ‘creep’ factor where we’re seeing a little bit of an increase and we want to stop that before it becomes an acceptable behavior…”

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has also announced a 3.7 million dollar federal grant to pay for sobriety checkpoints around the state.
