But state water officials say that doesn’t mean they’re letting their guard down when it comes to watching levees on the San Joaquin River.

Chief of Flood Operations with the state Department of Water Resources Jay Punia says the flood threat is not over.

"Still the stages in the San Joaquin River flood control system are extremely high and we are experiencing boils and seepage and I am concerned."

Sunday, work crews shored up a serious boil on the Chowchilla bypass near Mendota that was flowing 30-gallons of water per minute. Punia says the situation looks much better Monday.
