Sentenced to death yesterday for murdering his pregnant wife Laci, Peterson was secured with leg irons and shackles around his wrists and waist, for the short trip to San Quentin about three o'clock this morning.
Peterson will go through an orientation program that will limit his interaction to the more than 600 other death row inmates. Prison Spokesman Vernell Crittendon says for the time being Peterson won't have access to any personal effects. "He will not have any personal property such as far televisions and radios during this processing period, which will last for up to sixty days."
Peterson will likely be housed in a building known as East Block where cells are stacked in tiers fronted by narrow walkways.
Many cells at the prison have a view of the San Francisco Bay.
