Semiconductor Industry Downturn Affects Sacramento Companies

The semiconductor industry is likely to see a revenue decline of almost 6% this year, to $200 billion in worldwide sales, according to the high tech research firm In Stat MDR in Arizona. That would be $12 billion below last year’s revenues for the microprocessor industry. In Stat expects growth to resume in 2006. More than two dozen companies in the Sacramento region are in the semiconductor industry, led by Intel in Folsom…which has seen its stock price slide about 25% during the past 12 months.
