Thursday's clinic at the Sam Pannell Community Center in South Sacramento and the clinic on Saturday, Nov. 21, at the Town and Country Lutheran Church in Carmichael, have been cancelled.

Dr. Glennah Trochet is the county’s public health officer. She says the cancellations are because of bad weather forecasts and higher than expected demand for parking.

“We do not want to have long lines of people waiting in the wind and the rain. And in addition there are some traffic issues that we really need to address.”

Trochet says the two cancelled clinics will likely be rescheduled.

The next clinic will be on Monday, Nov. 23, at the First Covenant Church in Rancho Cordova. The county’s shots are still for priority groups only, like pregnant women, children, parents of infants and adults with chronic medical conditions. Trochet says the general public will be able to get the vaccines after Thanksgiving.

So far officials say the county has administered 6,000 of its 36,000 HIN1 flu shots.
