RT’s Ed Scofield says it’s part of the design planning for the new 4-mile route from the Meadowview Station to Cosumnes River College.
 
Scofield: “There are a lot of things that are set, but we do enjoy this part – as far as things like the benches and shade trees and how things look.  We like the stations to reflect the communities around them, and so that is our goal.” 
 
Scofield says the project is on time and under budget so far.  But he says the $270 million in federal, state and local funds to pay for the extension are not fully locked in yet.
 
Construction could start in the first half of next year; the first train is scheduled to hit the new tracks in late 2012.
